TRIBUTES have been paid to a 'wonderful man' and popular pub landlord who lost his battle with cancer last month.
Shay Comaskey, 58, was landlord of the Gamekeepers Lodge, in Bellingdon Road, Chesham, for 11 years up until his death on January 28.
But he was not just a smiling, welcoming face to regulars, he dedicated himself to the community he loved after ending up in Chesham after moving from his native Ireland in the 1960s, regularly holding fundraising activities for charities.

CHESHAM is preparing to honour the outstanding achievements of its residents by launching the 2010 Mayoral Awards.
The annual event recognises individual, groups, and businesses who have made a significant difference to the town's community with the winners announced at the annual town meeting in May.

PLANS to turn a Bellingdon pub into a two-bedroom cottage were rejected outright by the planning authority after over-whelming anger from the local community.
Fortitude Investments Ltd, owners of The Bull, in Chesham Road, submitted a planning application to Chiltern District Council last month which would have allowed them to knock-down the pub and build a residential home instead.

A POST Office is set to re-open in Chesham High Street by the end of February, the company has confirmed.
Anger has surrounded the closure of the site in November last year with representatives of Royal Mail failing to attend a public meeting on Wednesday.
But they have contacted town mayor Justine Fulford to tell her that they are planning to restock the closed site from the week commencing February 22 and with a temporary opening expected by at least March 1.
A second planned public meeting on February 1 to discuss more permanent plans is still set to go ahead.
More to follow.

POST Office officials pulled out of a public meeting to discuss the future of the Chesham site leaving the 180 people who turned out seething on Wednesday night (20/1).
A representative from the company had agreed to attend the meeting at the town hall on Wednesday night but emailed organiser and town mayor Justine Fulford at 1pm to say the risk of snow meant they could not travel.

DETERMINED Bellingdon residents have vowed to fight to stop their local pub being torn down by property developers.
More than 100 people piled into Bellingdon Village Hall, in Chesham Road, on Friday night (15/1) after a public meeting was called to discuss the future of The Bull just yards down the road.

ENTERPRISING Hawridge residents refused to be thwarted by the heavy snow in the county last week by holding a snow sculpture competiton.
Nine teams braved the freezing temperatures for the event, organised by Hawridge and Cholesbury Common Preservation Society on Sunday, January 10.
Isobel Clark, of the society, said: "The teams created a wide variety of designs including a cat and mouse, a crocodile, the Loch Ness monster, a boat surrounded by blue water, a teddy-chair, a sofa and TV, a castle and a Henry Moore-like snow maiden."
Winners were Jon and Jon Chaplin with their snow maiden with the pair receiving a bottle of bubbly for their efforts.
