Burglary crackdown operation re-launched

AN OPERATION cracking down on burglaries and vehicle thefts in Chilterns has been re-launched by Thames Valley Police.
Intelligence teams for the force have been gathering intelligence and analysing crime figures to identify the areas within the district that are affected by the crimes.

From January 27, teams of officers including one sergeant and six constables, roads policing and mounted section, will spend time in each area to raise visibility and cut down on the number of incidents.
Chief inspector Ian Hunter said: "It is important to reassure the community that we are successfully reducing these offences. For example, since April there have been 130 less victims of house burglary in Chiltern compared to the previous year.
"Operation Guillotine seeks to continue this downward trend by providing dedicated resources to increase patrols and target offenders.
"We are determined to make Chiltern even safer and a difficult place for offenders to commit crime."
The two-week operation was hailed a success when it was held last October with ten people arrested over a variety of offences such as burglary, theft, drugs offences and possession of a weapon with officers conducting 79 stop and searches.
