Age Concern appoint new boss

AGE Concern Bucks have appointed their new chief executive who is relishing the challenge of leading the vital charity.
Mike Brooks has been Befriending Services Manager at the charity for the past five years and has helped develop the scheme into one of the largest in the country with nearly 300 older people visited by volunteers each week.

He said: "Everyday I am saddened by the hurdles and problems faced by local people but the ability of the older generation to make the best of life can be a lesson to us all.
"Not only do we have clients who are in their nineties, but several volunteers, also in their nineties, who are still helping others every week. What a wonderful spirit."
