Water back on in Chesham

VEOLIA Waters Three Valleys has restored water back to Chesham and said it will keep engineers in the town this weekend to make sure the problem is not repeated.
Thousands of residents lost their water supply on Friday (26/2) with technicians working throughout the day to get power back.
A statement from Veolia Waters Three Valleys said: "Our technician has confrmed that normal pressure has been resumed, and water supply to affected properties should now be restored.
"Work will be ongoing throughout the afternoon and during the weekend to ensure normal operations and good pressure is maintained."

Chesham water supply cut-off

THE water supply has been completely cut-off in Chesham affecting thousands of residents.
Veolia Waters Three Valleys is investigating the problem and trying to resolve it as quickly as possible.
A statement fromt he company said: "Our repair team on site have identified the issue and are hoping to restore the supply to normal within the next 2 hours. Please be aware that this may be at a reduced pressure temporarily, whilst pressure in the main builds.
"We would like to thank you for you ongoing patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused during this interruption."

HISTORIC Chesham Building Society has become the latest victim of the recession after it agreed a merger with Skipton and end 165 years of independence this week.
The society, which has its head office in Chesham and is the oldest surviving building society in the UK after being founded in 1845, announced the merger on Wednesday (24/2).
Low interest rates heaped financial pressures on its lending and said it was the 'only option' left available.

This is a list of planning applications registered at Chiltern District Council this week.
All applications on this list, except Chiltern District Council's own applications, may be determined by the Head of Planning Services acting under delegated authority, unless the application is referred to the Planning Committee by one of Chiltern District Council's Members.

WITH a general election likely to be called at short notice, Chiltern District Council is urging voters not to be caught out and register early.
Alan Goodrum, CDC chief executive and electoral registration officer, said: "The time between the election date being announced and the last change to register to vote can be a matter of a few days. If you are not on the electoral register, you won't be able to vote."

TWO men were arrested on suspicion of car crime charges after police launched a crackdown in Chesham.
Thames Valley Police swooped in raids on seven addresses in total across the town and in London at around 7am yesterday morning. The search warrants were carried out as part of an investigation with the Metropolitan Police into car crime offences in Chesham and in London.

TESCO is re-launching their Schools & Clubs scheme in Chesham.
The supermarket giant will allow schools and clubs in the town to collect vouchers and chose from equipment and resources.

Guides hit the airwaves

GIRL Guides in Chesham came together at the weekend to take part in a national event and link up with fellow Guides across the world.
Around 30 girls from Chesham North District Guides headed to Hivings Free Church, in Upper Belmont Road, on Saturday (20/2) to get involved with World Thinking Day.

Chesham station back in business

CHESHAM Police Station re-opened its doors to the public this week after a five-month refurbishment project.
The station, in Broad Street, opened for business on Monday (22/2) after it had been closed on Bank Holiday Monday in August last year to undergo "extensive improvements".

FASHION collections from local designers will be paraded along the catwalk for a special show at The Elgiva next month.
Designs from People Treem Traidcraft, Komodo and Five G will all be paraded at the Fairtrade Fashion Challenge Show on March 4.
