Residents excel in snow sculpture competition
ENTERPRISING Hawridge residents refused to be thwarted by the heavy snow in the county last week by holding a snow sculpture competiton.
Nine teams braved the freezing temperatures for the event, organised by Hawridge and Cholesbury Common Preservation Society on Sunday, January 10.
Isobel Clark, of the society, said: "The teams created a wide variety of designs including a cat and mouse, a crocodile, the Loch Ness monster, a boat surrounded by blue water, a teddy-chair, a sofa and TV, a castle and a Henry Moore-like snow maiden."
Winners were Jon and Jon Chaplin with their snow maiden with the pair receiving a bottle of bubbly for their efforts.
