MP continues Post Office fight

Posted by Greg Burns on Dec 1, 09 03:34 PM in People

CHERYL Gillan MP has reassured residents she is in daily contact with Royal Mail about a possible re-opening the Chesham Post Office but that no agreement has been found yet.
The Amersham and Chesham MP is angered at the closure of the branch, in High Street, last month especially at such a busy time of year.

"As so many constituents - like me - are concerned about the Chesham post office closure, I thought you would appreciate knowing that I am in constant touch with the Royal Mail about the closure," said Mrs Gillan.
"There are ongoing negotiations taking place with the various parties, but no solution has yet been found. I will continue to talk to the Post Office on a daily basis and have been offering every assistance that I can to find a solution.
"I will continue to monitor the position and continue to press for these vital facilities for our town to be restored, particularly at this very busy time of year."

We'd like to hear from you.

So what is the latest regarding the Post Office? Obviously no emergency plan was implemented to cope with Christmas postal demands.

As a single pensioner without transport, I was unable to even post some Christmas cards to foreign parts such as Australia as I was unable to obtain stamps of appropriate denomination.

Due to inclement weather I was unable to venture out on public transport to the nearest post office.

There has been no mention of any up-date - even if there has been no progress it would just be nice to know.
Whole situation most disappointing.
