Anti-war meeting in Chesham
MEMBERS of anti-war groups gathered in Chesham last week to appeal for British troops to be brought home from Afghanistan.
A meeting, organised by the Chiltern Peace and Justice Group (CPJG), was held at the White Hill Centre, in White Hill on Thursday (10/12).
Speakers included Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, of the Muslim Parliament in Britain, and Carol Turner, national officer of the Stop the War Coalition.
It followed a vigil held at the Chesham War Memorial last Tuesday (8/12) to mark the 100th death of British soldier in the war torn country this year where each victim's name was read out and remembered.
Richard Dunn, CPJG chair, said: "No one knows how many Afghan civilians have been killed, but it is thought to be over 30,000 since the bombing and the occupation."
