Shock over sudden death of volunteer champion
VOLUNTEERING services in south Bucks are in mourning this week after one of their tireless servants died suddenly while playing golf.
Allan Radcliffe was a Befriending Co-ordinator for south Bucks region of Age Concern but died on Saturday (14/11).
Mike Brooks, senior manager at Age Concern Bucks, paid a poignant tribute to Mr Radcliffe.
He said: "This has come as a tremendous shock to us all as Allan was very fit and active and had so much energy.
"Allan has made so many friends and represented us so well in that part of the county, recruiting hundreds of volunteers by using many of his own original ideas and initiatives.
"He loved life and a joke and his pride and joy was his Jaguar, in which he often threatened to give people spins.
"It is a great shame that having done so very much for the older people of South Bucks he will now never receive such kindness back in his old age."
Mr Radcliffe is survived by wife Joan, a son and daughter and granddaughter. The family have requested that, instead of flowers, donations can be made to Age Concern Bucks.
