Chesham Post Office closed
CUSTOMERS hoping to use Chesham Post Office today were told it had been closed.
The branch, in High Street, had a handwritten note in its window informing people about the decision and advising them to use the branch in Greenway Parade.
One angry customer said: "There's been no advance warning of it. I think it's appalling especially for people with limited mobility or who are disabled to have to go to Greenway or to some old dear wandering down the town specifically to go to the Post Office.
"I think it's disgusting. At least when they have shut down others in the area there has been warning."
A Post Office spokesperson said: "We understand that customers in Chesham will be concerned about the future of Post Office services in their area. The provision of a Post Office branch in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore a facility in the area as soon as possible."

We cannot afford to lose this vital service in our town. The town must chase the post office and prove that we need this service and to make it a priority to replace the post office.
This is a direct result of New Labour's moronic meddling with anything good in this country. Utter berks. VOTE THEM OUT!

Agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with the above comments.
Chesham is the 4th largest town in Bucks and we appear to have no post office in the town centre. The reason given once again is that the shop has gone bankrupt which is nothing to do with the post office or the government. However, we are still left with no post office within walking distance for the majority of people. What a pity the short sighted authorities closed down the Waterside post office which had served local residents for years at least we would have had somewhere to go while this mess is sorted out.
One of the main reasons to leave the car park and wander through the town - to drop off urgent post or parcels needing a little extra postage - gone - bankrupt?? Possibly something to do with the vibrant recent redecoration? Chesham is rapidly losing its commerical frontage to numerous side street cafes and coffee shops or hairdressers, leaving little in the way of decent or affordable high street shops - come on Chesham Town Council - take a stand. Much as I like a cup of coffee and having my hair cut there is such as a thing as too much choice.
how is this New Labour meddling!!??!!?
Would the Tories invest heavily in public services to ensure its survival? even if it has gone bankrupt?
what has the local Tory council done?
Colin,
You clearly know nothing about how the Political system works in this Country. It may surprise you to know, that Local Tory-run Council's have to go Cap-in-Hand to Nu-Liebore each year for money, as they hold the Purse strings. Obviously, they are going to give funds to Labour-run Council's in preference, hence the MESS that this Country finds itself in!!
Please refrain from ill-thought comments, at least until you have bothered to educate yourself on the FACTS, rather than relying on your Socialist-loving conscience!!
