Chesham centenarian toasts landmark birthday

Posted by Greg Burns on Nov 20, 09 11:32 AM in People

A FORMER pub landlady toasted her 100th birthday in Chesham this month surrounded by family and friends.
Vie Vassie was joined by daughter Barbara, granddaughter Pauline and great-granddaughter Mia for her special bash at her sheltered housing in Townsend Road on November 10.

The centenarian left party goers enthralled with stories about her long, happy life and tales of when she ran several pubs.
Alison Hadden, chief executive of Paradigm Housing, also dropped in with flowers and a special cake.
Vie said: "I always loved meeting people in the pub you meet all sorts and learn to deal with all of them."
The bubbly birthday girl spoke of how she remembered her father returning from World War One and said she promised her sister she would live as long as their great-grandmother who died at 97.
She said: "I am pleased I have done it and I am so glad I was hear to see Mia."

We'd like to hear from you.

It's a shame that a tribute Vie in your paper is littered with incorrect information, bad grammer and spelling mistakes. I am sure even at 100 years old,Vie could have written something more succinctly.
Mia is Vie's great, great grand daughter!
Pauline is Vie's grand daughter and Mia is her son's daughter and her grandchild.
Vie, was very pleased to have celebrated her 100th Birthday and was said she was glad to be HERE to see little Mia.
Shame that paper is closing a correction would have been nice.

Fed up with it all said:

Well, what do you expect from the feckless Burns & Co.? This is what they lounge around at Uni for 4 years for....it's called 'modern journalism' apparently...

The Paper is closing because the people that are employed by it are illiterate, lazy and useless. I wonder what their Career prospects will look like when they are forced to get proper job?!!!
