People urged to be safe this Halloween

PARENTS and youngsters are being warned to be extra careful this Halloween by Bucks Fire and Rescue Service as many find themselves injured each year.
The fire service is urging anyone dressing up and entering into the spirit of the festival to be careful as lighted candles and fireworks often ignite flammable costumes and hair such as plastic capes or bin liners.
Hollowed pumpkins and candles can also be dangerous, they warned.

Terry Ridgely, BFRS community safety manager, said: "Although Halloween is a time for fun, there is nothing more terrifying than having a fire at home or seeing your clothes catch alight.
"Whilst we don't want to stop people enjoying Halloween, we do want them to celebrate safely. By following some simple advice both in the run up to the day and on 31 October itself will make sure everyone is safe to enjoy the festivities.
"We are asking parents to think very carefully about the fire risks before encouraging children to make their own lanterns. And we also want to encourage parents to only buy Halloween costumes and masks which are labelled flame resistant.
Police are hoping their Halloween campaign will prevent residents being affected by anti-social behaviour.
Letters and posters have been put up in shops, schools, libraries warning shopkeepers not to sell eggs, flour or fireworks to underage children.
Chief Inspector Ian Hunter, Chiltern local police area commander, said: "We want to make sure everyone has a good time this Halloween and Bonfire Night, including those who choose not to take part. If you're trick or treating, please take note of posters displayed by those who do not want a visit, and remember, throwing eggs or other items is not part of the fun, it is anti-social behaviour and could be criminal damage."
