Parking charge plan for Chesham

Posted by Greg Burns on Oct 28, 09 11:15 AM in People

PARKING regulations have been proposed in Chesham which will see pay and display meters set up in parts of the town.
Bucks County Council have put forward a consultation for the plans which would see no waiting in Cameron Road and Turners Walk at any time of the day and no waiting in parts of East Street on Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm.

Pay and display will be set up in certain sections of Punch Bowl Lane and Red Lion Street which will see drivers only able to park for one hour between 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday.
Disabled parking bays are also planned for certain stretches of Cameron Road.
Claire Quilley, of BCC parking services, said: "The purpose of this orders is to improve the availability of parking in prime locations and to promote both road safety and traffic management.
"BCC and Chiltern District Council (CDC) recognise that there are benefits in managing road space and improving turnover within parking bays.
"This can be achieved through a more efficient and effective way of enforcing short stay and dedicated on-street parking places."
Residents are being encouraged to inspect the full plans on display at the BCC offices, CDC offices, Chesham Town Hall, and Amersham and Chesham library.
People must send the county council their comments on the proposals by December 3.
