Fresh sightings of missing man

POLICE continue to appeal for information to help track down a missing Alzheimer's sufferer after people came forward with fresh sightings of the pensioner.
Paul Maurice, 66, was reported missing on Monday (29/9) and was last seen riding his bike along Lye Green Road at 3.30pm.
But fresh sightings have placed Mr Maurice at the Botley Road Post Office at 2.15pm, The White Hart pub in Whelpley Hill at 3.15pm and cycling past Brockhurst Farm.
He was also later seen walking, but still wearing his cycle helmet, in Braziers End, Bellingdon at 6.40pm.

A BLIND Chesham resident has spoken of his anxiety about the possibility of roads and pavements being levelled in the Chilterns.
Andrew Stewart, 24, of Alexander Street, is concerned after Bucks County Council signed up to a national Shared Streets scheme and began to pilot it in Aylesbury.
The scheme sees pavements and curbs levelled with the road which BCC says "can achieve better interaction between motor vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists" which they say is based on "substantial international research".

A TWO month campaign is set to be launched in the Chilterns aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour in the district.
Thames Valley Police and Chiltern District Council will run Operation Confidence from October 19 to December 19 and organise a variety of events across the period.
The campaign will coincide with Alcohol Awareness Week and the Not in My Neighbourhood initiative with roadshows touring Chesham, Prestwood, Amersham, and Chalfont St Peter where residents can receive crime prevention advice and tell the police what is going on in their neighbourhood.

A CELEBRATION day was held at Shelley Gardens on Saturday after the conclusion of a regeneration project in the area.
Hundreds of people headed down to the gardens, in Chesham, to take part in a host of activities including scrapheap artwork, story telling, and the chance to sow flower seeds and build bird feeders.

Wife of missing man speaks out

THE wife of an Alzheimer's sufferer missing from his Chesham home has pleaded for him to come home.
Paul Maurice, 66, was last seen cycling along Lye Green Road at 3.30pm on Monday (28/9) wearing light coloured shorts, a brown t-shirt, grey sweatshirt, and brown trainers.
He requires medication to regulate his Alzheimer's and his wife Isobel has issued a heartfelt message to her husband.

GOLFERS in fancy dress helped to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Research at Chartridge Park Golf Club last month.
The ladies section of the club, in Chesham, threw themselves into the spirit of the event with some dressing up as a nun, a dalmation, witches, French waitresses, and even a pig.

New chief fire officer appointed

BUCKS Fire and Rescue service has appointed its new chief fire officer who will take up the post in January 2010.
Mark Jones will leave his post as deputy chief fire officer in Essex for the promotion and his appointment was approved by the Bucks & Milton Keynes Fire Authority meeting on Friday (25/9).

CHESHAM British Legion will begin their £600,000 fundraising campaign with their seventh annual Cask Ale Festival this month.
The charity have been set the mammoth total to raise in order to rebuild their building, in Broad Street, which burned down in May.
Resolute bosses at the legion have refused to give up on hosting their ever-popular event and will put it on at the White Hill Centre between October 9 to 11.

George helps spread green message

ONE eco-friendly boy earned himself a famous Blue Peter badge for a poem which has now become his school's new motto.
George Blackmore, of Elmtree School, Chesham, took up the challenge to pen a ditty to support his school aiming for Eco Schools status.

Town hosts charity coffee mornings

CHESHAM hosted one of thousands of coffee mornings worldwide to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Across the globe, fundraisers held the special events with Bellingdon Village Hall doing their bit for the cause.
