TEARS of joy were shed at Chesham High School as hundreds of youngsters opened their GCSE results.
Following on from their A-level success last week, the school, in White Hill, was celebrating yet more academic success of their pupils.
Just over 53 per cent of all grades achieved in GCSE this year were at A* or A grade with twice the number of students achieving 10 or more A* or A grades.

Teachers at the school were delighted with 60 per cent of pupils achieving A* or A grades in maths and more than half achieving the same in the three sciences.
Rex Dickinson gained four A*s, four As, three Bs and a C grade and is staying on at the sixth form to study physics, maths, geography, and IT.
He said: "I am so pleased because I got exactly what I wanted. I didn't feel too nervous this morning I was more excited."
Oliver De Hoest was thrilled with his seven A*s and is gearing up for his A-levels in history, politics, French and maths.
He said: "I am so surprised. I worked hard but I never expected I would do this well. Words can't describe just how happy I am right now."
The school's top performer was Ashling Coakley-Burns who achieved a remarkable twelve A*grades and is going on to study maths, biology, chemistry and history at A-level.
She said: "I am going to celebrate at Reading Festival this weekend and can't wait to see Kings of Leon. I am so happy and shocked right now.
"I was surprised I did so well especially in English. I am now really looking forward to starting my A-levels."
Philip Wayne, headmaster, said: "We are delighted that we have built upon the successes of last year.
"One of our principal aims is to ensure that both boys and girls are stretched to reach the highest grades at GCSE.
"We are very proud of our students who have worked very hard over the past two years, taught by an able and committed staff who should also be very pleased with their performance."

We'd like to hear from you.
