Businessman joy after receiving council grant

A CHESHAM businessman has praised Bucks County Council after he successfully applied for a recession busting grant.
Roger Runswick, 58, founder The 50 Plus Organisation, based in High Street, said the £5,000 cash grant will enable him to employ one or two local people.
The boss of the company, who provide specialist services using workers over the age of 50, applied to the county council after the local authority teamed up with the Bucks Economic and Learning Partnership (BELP).

The two organisations put £100,000 in a pot and encouraged businesses to apply for up to £5,000 of the cash.
More than 90 businesses applied and The 50 Plus Organisation was one of four initial successful bids.
Mr Runswick said: "This year has been very difficult for all businesses and we hope, touch wood, that we are coming through the worst of it.
"It is great that the county council are supporting local businesses and this money will enable us to employ a few more local people which is a great thing for the community.
"We are always looking to grow as a business and this grant will really give us a good push."
David Shakespeare, BCC leader, said: "Bucks is well established as a business hub, however during this tough economic period we recognise that companies need a little helping hand and are pleased to be able to provide this support."
