Age Concern vow to help elderly through recession
ELDERLY residents are being urged to take advantage of a benefits campaign by Age Concern Bucks which saw them help pensioners claim £1m last year.
The charity has launched their 'More Money in Your Pocket' campaign helping pensioners through the recession by showing them what benefits they could be claiming.
In 2008 they helped 750 local residents claim £1m in benefits including pension credit and council tax benefit - which some were not aware they could claim for.
Sue Gehnich, welfare rights officer at Age Concern Bucks, said: "There are hundreds of pensioners in Bucks who are missing out on cash that is rightfully theirs, which could be a crucial lifeline in times of recession like these.
"We can help make it easy to claim the money you are owed. We have benefits people available throughout the year to provide expert help and information to older people across Bucks."
To find out what you can claim call Age Concern Bucks' free helpline on 01296 431127.
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos
