The son of a man who admitted possessing an antique revolver has hit out at his father's sentence.
George Thomas, a 59-year-old shotgun enthusiast of Bois Moor Road, Chesham, admitted possessing the Smith and Wesson gun and was told by a judge he had put himself at risk of a five year jail term.
Thomas was given 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, with 200 hours unpaid work for possession of a firearm.

Pay-and-Display.jpgA Chesham businessman is calling on Chiltern District Council to drop parking charges to help the town survive the recession.
Greg Morgan, managing director of promotional products company Biblio Products Ltd, made the appeal to get behind visitors and employers after being given a parking ticket in a car park outside his office.
Mr Morgan, 43, whose company is based in Sills Yard, was issued with the £25 fine for exceeding the maximum three-hour stay in Star Yard car park, while he took a work conference call.

A Beatles tribute act is set to perform in the town 40 years to the day after the band's last performance.
The Cavern Beatles will play many of the hits from the Liverpool four's last appearance in London.
The tribute act will take to the stage at the Elgiva theatre on Friday.

Q: What are the key areas of the company's business?
A:
We provide network services and have contracts with some well known Chesham companies. We sell computers and provide spares. We offer a service at home, in addition.
The most common problems we encounter, probably, involve hard disk faults. This usually involves about an hour and a half of work.

Candlelight Gaza vigil

Chesham-Gaza-Vigil.jpgA candlelight vigil to remember victims of conflict in Gaza took place in Chesham.
Residents wielding banners stating 'end the siege of Gaza now' gathered at the war memorial in The Broadway, Chesham, last Wednesday.
One of the organisers, Richard Dunn, of Chiltern Peace and Justice group, said: "The main thing is to remember the dead which is why we are by the war memorial. We also wanted to show it's a community response."

An 82-year-old Chesham man was taken to hospital with multiple fractures after a traffic collision in Berkhampstead Road yesterday.
The incident happened on the A416 at around 1pm when the man collided with a grey MG ZR in the Chesham road. He was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital where police say he is in a stable condition.
The road was closed for one hour while traffic officers carried out investigation and debris was cleared.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact PC Ian Wayland at Amersham police station. PC Wayland can be contacted via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to talk to the police, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police surgery in Chesham

Members of the public will be able to raise concerns and alert police to their priorities at Bellingdon and Ashridge Village Hall in Chesham Road, Bellingdon on Thursday, February 5 at 7.30pm.

Chesham Museum to host tea dance

A Valentine's Day that raises money for an important cause could add to the normally warm, romantic feeling.
Chesham Museum is organising an old-fasioned tea dance at The Temperance Hall in Lowndes Park.
There will be tea, cakes and dancing from 2-5pm.

22782408 Eleanor Shaw.jpgA talented Chesham performer has made her way on to a stage in London's West End at the youthful age of nine.
Eleanor Shaw, a year five pupil at Waterside School, has been fitting in her school work with appearances in The Sound of Music.
Eleanor was picked to play the part at a theatre class and following seven weeks of rehearsals took on the part of Marta von Trapp - the second youngest child of Captain von Trapp in the musical.
