Hospital Hill appeal launched
An appeal against a decision to refuse permission to build flats on the site of an industrial building in Hospital Hill has been lodged.
An application for demolition of the building and construction of a three storey block of nine flats with a basement car park at the Chesham site, was turned down by Chiltern District Council's planning committee in October.
The scale of the development and highway safety issues were reasons given for it being turned down.
The decision report adds: "As such, by virtue of its poor design and layout the building would not integrate into the existing locality and would detract from the area in an uncharacteristic and harmful manner."
A statement from the applicants W. Durston Ltd's architect said it should keep in perspective reasons given for granting permission for a change of use at the site.
The appeal will be dealt with by written statements and a site visit by an inspector. Representations should be made to the Planning Inspectorate by January 2 2009.
