Man hit by own car in theft terror
A man was left injured after being hit by his own car as he tried to stop it from being driven away by thieves.
Colin Smith, 53, of Chesham, had his blue 4x4 Isuzu stolen on Saturday, October 25 while he was working in Chesham Bois.
At around 4.40pm that day, Mr Smith, who works as a garden maintenance contractor, was cutting a hedge in Cheyne Close while his vehicle was parked in the adjoining Green Lane.
He said: "I looked up and realised that it was being driven away so I ran out into the road to stop it. I saw it driving towards me quite quickly but I thought that if I stood in the way of it, it would have to stop.
"Eventually I realised that it wasn't going to stop but by then it was too late and it hit me. I fell to the side of the road and it drove off. I was lucky not to have fallen the other way or I would have been run over.
"I had brusing to my hips and shoulders and cuts across my knees. I did not need hospital treatment but I was off work for a few days because of it."
Mr Smith contacted the police and was interviewed but says that since then he has not heard whether any arrests have been made or if his vehicle has been found.
He said: "It was full of my possessions and equipment I need for my job, as well as my house keys and credit cards.
"I cannot believe how little I have heard from the police. They do not seem to have made hardly any effort to help me or to try and catch these people.
"It was a very shocking incident but it would be nice to know that the police were doing all that they can to catch the culprits. However, they do not seem to be doing this."
