On Tuesday, the world-renowned racing driver joined former teacher Hugh Osborne to opening the new wing of the school in Chesham Bois.

Chesham-OAP-Lunch.jpgChristmas came early for eldery residents when they were invited to a party at Hivings Park Free Church.
Brownies from the church organised the event for senior citizens, who were treated to food, cups of tea and entertainment last Saturday.

My Town: Naomi Williams

This week we caught up with Naomi Williams, 17, is head girl at Chesham Park Community College.
She has lived in Newtown, Chesham, all her life.

Profitable charity concert

A community concert at The Elgiva yielded a profit of £1,839.38 for a charity called Pebbles, which supports local families with terminally ill children.
The charity, backed by town mayor Alison Pirouet, was compered by Major Fred Thompson from The Salvation Army.
Participants included the Southern Area Salvation Army Band, blind soprano soloist Lissa Hermans and members of the Brushwood Junior School Choir.
"The general consensus seemed to be same again next year, please, " said Major Kath Dolling, from the Chesham Salvation Army.

Parents will be able to check on their child's progress by logging on to the Internet under plans to improve Chesham Park Community College.
This is one of several measures the school has introduced following it being branded a 'failing' school by education secretary Ed Balls in June.

Seeking a club to sponsor

A business is looking for a youth football club to sponsor.
Tops Tiles in Townsend Road, Chesham will provide full football kit, an end of season award ceremony with trophies and help with any other fundraising events through the year.
Dean Samuel said: "I've just become the manager and this is something I want to push forward.
"It is something I took advantage of when I was a younger and I know how much it helped me."

Multi cultural catwalk show

Chesham-Models.jpgEast met west in a multicultural catwalk show organised by pupils at Chesham Park Community College.
An evening of fashion, music and dancing on Thursday was arranged by students to celebrate different cultures at the school in Chartridge Lane.

Chesham Museum will announce the winners of its Schools Art Competition "A Link for Peace" at the private viewing of its art sale on Thursday, November 27. The exhi bition at the former Chapter One premises will be open to the public on Friday November 28 between 6-9pm and from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.

Inter-school maths challenge

Pupils used their numerical skills with multiples of maths for an inter-schools challenge.
Year six youngsters from The Beacon, Chesham Preparatory School, Elangeni, Godstowe, Little Chalfont, Our Lady's and St Mary's Church of England School pitted their wits against each other at a maths afternoon at The Beacon School, Chesham Bois on Friday.
The Beacon teams were joint winners of the competition, which is in its second year, with Little Chalfont Primary and Chesham Preparatory School second and third.

Poster competition

Chesham-Waterside-Poster.jpgChildren took a step back to Victorian times to design a poster for Chesham's annual event commemorating the era.
Two pupils at Waterside School, Humza Alam, eight, and Lucia Anderson, 11, were chosen in first and second place respectively in the competition.
The youngsters were asked to draw a poster advertising Victorian Evening, which takes place in Chesham town centre on Friday (28/11).
