Museum meeting to discuss move
The annual meeting of the Chesham Museum trustees is set to be an exciting one as they celebrate securing its new home.
The trustees agreed with the landlords of the premises in Chesham High Street to move in next year and the focus of the meeting will be to encourage more people to join the campaign.
Chairman Lesley Perry said: "This is a major project which will benefit the people of this town in many ways - displaying artifacts, and providing an educational resource
are just two of the major benefits."
"The trustees have reached agreement with the landlords to take over the premises early in the new year but a lot of work remains. Much of this is being undertaken by the existing trustees so we need to increase the number of active members to enable us to delegate more of the responsibility.
"We are working as hard as we can but a number of posts need to be filled as a matter of urgency."
Two vital posts which need filling are that of treasurer, a visitor services officer and fundraising officer.
Trustee Chris Spruytenburg said: "Another important trustee's post we need to fill is that of the fundraising officer who would chair the small committee and report to the
trustees on the programme of events he or she would be responsible for. This is a pivotal role as we have to meet just over £14,000 costs per year - we have raised nearly £11,000 in just seven months."
All members and anyone interested in getting involved are invited to the annual general meeting at the White Hill Centre on Thursday, November 6 at 7.30pm.
Anyone interested in the project who is unable to make the meeting can call 01494 773513.
