Residents in Pond Park were using their green fingers last week to help brighten up a pathway.

Members of the public who use the path at the top of Shelley Road which leads from Pond Park into Chesham town centre, visited the gardens there on Friday afternoon to plant bulbs and plants to give the area a bright and colourful look next spring.

Residents were also being asked about their ideas for the area, which is having £10,000 spent on it to make it a more pleasant area.

The event was run by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV), the UK's leading practical conservation charity, on behalf of the Pond Park Community Association.

Jane Craven, community project officer for BTCV said: "It was great to hear people's views about the path and get ideas about what the people who use this path would like to see and do here.
"Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves planting the bulbs, and now the challenge is to remember where they planted their bulb when they flower next year."

Councillor Derek Lacey, vice chairman of Pond Park Community Association said: "It was very good and we had quite a few residents there, not only from Shelley Road but also surrounding areas.
"Chiltern District Council were very helpful and provided food and drink, Paradigm Housing and the police were also there to talk to residents, it was very encouraging.

"We will be doing more there soon, cleaning the place up, cutting back the trees to make it brighter and generally making it a nicer place for people to walk through."

We'd like to hear from you.
