A BRUTE who carried out violent and repeated sex assaults on a 15-year-old girl has been locked up indefinitely.

Barrie Seymour, 29, of The Chase, Chesham, exploited the vulnerable teenager's infatuation with him to force her to perform sex acts with him and, on two occasions, with another man.

A FAMILY has been left heartbroken after two sentimental items were snatched from their baby boys' grave.

Heather, 23, and David Phillips, 27, of Latimer Road, Chesham, lost their twin boys, Casper and Leon, at five months pregnant in May this year and have been placing items for them at their grave in Chesham Cemetery, including a Shaun the Sheep tractor train ornament and a plastic silver cross. Both have been stolen within the past month.

A CAR owner had a narrow escape when high winds last week caused a tree to crash down onto her vehicle as she was just about to get in.

The incident happened at around lunch time on Monday, August 23, in Amy Lane, Chesham, where a car was left crushed by the fallen tree.

A MAN has pledged to donate up to £5,000 to a cash-strapped children's charity which is fighting for survival, and is challenging the people of Chesham to match his offer.

The former Chesham businessman, who wishes not to be named, came forward after reading the recent article in the Examiner where charity Shed@ThePark an 'inclusive' theatre company based in Chesham who work weekly with 110 disabled and able bodied children, appealed to the local community to help them keep running.

CHESHAM High School officially changed its name to Chesham Grammar School yesterday (September 1).

The change follows earlier consultations in the year about the proposal which received a favourable response from students, parents and staff.

Headmaster Philip Wayne said: "This is a positive step for the school as it moves towards its place as one of the top grammars in the County."

A SCHOOL which is working towards its Eco-Schools Green Flag had a more environmentally friendly boiler installed with the help of a crane last week.

When Elmtree School, in Elm Tree Hill, Chesham, were faced with having to replace their gas boiler earlier this year they opened a discussion with Buckinghamshire County Council (BCC) to explore a greener option and install a Biomass boiler, which burns wood pellets instead of gas.

CHESHAM Post Office has been appointed a permanent location just a few doors down the road from its current one after a public consultation revealed that the majority were in favour of the new home.

The branch is to move from its current home in High Street to 77a The Broadway, a 17th century building which was previously the post office for around 100 years until the 1980s.

A MUSEUM has invited a celebrity guest to the town next week to help them promote an upcoming fundraising event.

Antiques Roadshow presenter John Bly will attend Chesham museum, in Market Square, on Thursday, September 9, to help publicise the Auction of Promises event he will be hosting in October to help raise money for the venue.

PEOPLE of Chesham are invited to come down and meet their local councillors this Saturday.

Chesham Town Council is holding a Council Surgery at Chesham Market on Saturday, September 4, between 10am and noon.

FIREFIGHTERS had to assist a car that was left dangling in a perilous position over the River Chess in Chesham.

The crew from Amersham were called to the scene on Friday, August 27, at around 12.30pm in Latimer Road, where the back end of a car was overhanging a bridge.
